The Specially Protected Areas Regional Activity Centre (SPA/RAC) is launching a call for consultancy for the assessment and update of the National Action Plan for the conservation of marine mammals in Egyptian Mediterranean waters.
This activity, requested by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), involves the assessment and revision of the National Action Plan elaborated in 2012. The aim is to develop an updated plan that reflects the current status, threats, and opportunities for marine mammals in the Egyptian Mediterranean region.
The initiative is aligned with the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2025 between the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and contiguous Atlantic area (ACCOBAMS) and SPA/RAC, under which both organisations will support the assessment, update, and adoption of the Action Plan at the national level.
This call is financially supported through the voluntary contribution from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France towards the implementation of the 2024–2025 work programme of UNEP/MAP – SPA/RAC.
